Dinner

Post by Painted » Sat Feb 12, 2005 9:06 pm

Well I cooked for the boyfriend tonight (Bio's son). We had chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and hawiian sweet roles. I messed up quite a bit, and Mike helped me through. I was never really taught how to cook. Baking is my specialty. I did forget to let Mike have a brownie though, so I will take him one tommorow. All in all dinner was good, I was going to have it be normal, but mom got out all the special stuff. LOL. And the chicken was coming off the spit a little bit. We watched Anger Management after that, and both were cracking up by the end of the movie. I thought that in the end, I did a pretty good job.

Now don't go letting him think you can cook, cuz when you are both old and decrepit and married, he will expect you to cook all the time

Haha....dinner wasn't to bad tonight, but I was nervous, so I was very clumsy...and I have told him I can't cook. All I can do is bake, and baking helps me relieve stress, and I also enjoy it.

Cooking isn't as difficult as you might think.

I learned from my mom, and a lot of recipe reading.

I think the best advice when starting out, is to just keep an eye on everything. Simply put, don't leave the kitchen. It's when you leave and think you'll be back in time, that it burns, or boils over, or generally get's ruined.

As for flavor, don't always follow the recipe strictly. Use your own taste-buds to get an idea of flavor. Flavor to taste, not to the recipe. You will find many recipes that don't sound good at first, but are excellent when you do your own substitution.

Yes, I know how to cook, and I'm not just talking barbecue either. :)
