OK, throughout this mess, I've had no problems. Now, with the change, I only have red heads on the Forum Index. Once I go into the sub-section, the indvidual threads have no redheads indicating new posts. Luckily, by looking at the post times, I can generally figure out where the new posts are.

Well I thought i had gotten around the disappearing redheads problem with the work-around of clicking on the link from a post-reply email.
This method has been working well for a few weeks now.
However, as of yesterday, it no longer works. No redheads (though I still appear as logged-in when I get here rather than not logged in without using the email method of entry)
