Anyone else for gmail?

Post by bugfreezer » Wed Sep 01, 2004 9:02 pm

After mmeowgrl blessed me with a gmail invite, gmail has given me a few to pass out.

Any takers? Just PM me with your real name and email address and I will send it your way!

gmail is an email service run by Google. It's like hotmail, only you get 1 gig (yes, Gigabyte) of storage; you can send messages up to 10 MB in size, attachments and all, including wrapper code; it takes 9 months to get flushed for lack of use unlike hotmail's thirty days, and finally it organizes your email like conversations instead of strict chronological order.

You can use the google search algorithm to look up a message based on a keyword as well.

Only drawbacks: You cannot patch your gmail account into a email client like eudora or outlook, and you get adverts (tastefully placed on the side of the window) - they pop adverts in based on message content via keyword/phrase matches. Google claims that no one reads the mail, except the advert spider.

Best of all - it's free! It's currently in beta, but google is looking for more beta testers, and they give existing beta testers invites to pass out. Hence this topic.

If you wanna try it out, please PM me with your real name and an email address, and I will send one your way.

Hmmm... How long does it take for an email to hit? I haven't got mine yet.

You mean when someone invites you? Not sure, seemed pretty immediate from what I could tell. Breaman (our resident lurker) actually sent me an invite last Friday and I got it later that day I believe.

Egad!

Helps if I sent it to the right email address!

You should have it by the time you read this.

Sorry!
