And you guys don't eat beef in the UK?

I do, however, like the UK.

Eating meat is an incredibly sensual thing. It's built into the programming. Vegetarian is choice. Omnivore is nature. Denying yourself the pleasure is a bit like denying you have a primordial self.

Those who claim that the effort is toward a more evolved human nature, well, good luck. Evolution happens because of a simple equation. Time+Need+Facility=Evolution. You can't spur evolution by inserting Desire into the place of any of these things. I did three years as a dedicated and unflinching vegetarian. It's a fools solution to an invented problem.

I respect the intentions and wishes of those who choose not to eat meat and I never look down on anyone for difference of opinion. I just find it funny how many vegetarians get a bit snooty about it (not all - I know one on this board who is extremely tolerant). Like you need me to validate your choice. No more so than I need you to feel validated myself. I understand the point of view, what I don't get is the Amway-like insistance that everyone must make this choice. It's your diet, not a religious conversion.

PS... I got a free 48 oz. steak for a scenario much like this. I'd like to take on a 72 oz. one if I could find it.

I have long and often said that if God meant us to be vegetarians, he wouldn't have made animals out of meat.

Oh YEEESSS.

I love the feeling I get in my gums when I chew red meat. The only way I can describe it is "high pitched" and rather itch-like. But MAN it feels good.

i didn't mean the whole USA at the time of this post. just the guy that just ate the average persons yearly consumption of beef (non macdonalds, burger king,m kfc, wimpys) in one sitting.

however the above posts are OTT and a wind up?

so it stands i hate you all

also moxie, i've got one of those fawns on order for dinner tonight.

i am also NOT a vegetarian.

edit: also historically didn't we have to go hunt for the animals your talking about?

perhaps if they gave you a spear dumped you in the middle of the wood and told you to fetch dinner you may have a different view?

the chinese eat dogs & cats

I think that every one should know where their food comes from. Bio does not...to him its a culture on a plastic tray. Yes, I have butchered my own food, from chickens, a goat one time and cattle. I don't take pleasure in the killing and butchering part, but I sure do like the meat.

What's wrong with eating cats and dogs, they are meat and according to a Korean I know, quite tasty Its just a cultural belief that it is wrong...the Hindu's feel the same about us eating cows...

The French find nothing wrong with eating HORSES..

Whatever.. eating

Mr Ed,
Jinx the Cat
or Lassie .. just seems wrong to me. Something along the lines of cannibalism... If you share a relationship with either a human or an animal, then I don't think it's right to chomp down on a nice juicy leg bone...

I just prefer to think about it that way.

I did, however, grow up on a farm in South Dakota. I've put a great many animals down, carved them up, and ate them for dinner. Pigs and cattle are the worst to do... but chickens, heck, I'll cut those little bastards heads off just for fun.

I hate chickens. I'm glad they taste so good, because it gives us a reason to end their miserable lives.

This topic reminds me of one of my most favorite movie scenes.

McClintock, with John Wayne. The outdoor party scene where they have a full side of beef skewed on a huge open fire pit. Now -THAT- is a BBQ Spit. I'd like to build one of those myself, put a pig or half a cow on it, slow roast it for ahalf a day, basting and turning.

Something sensual about meat eating, oh Yea!
