New particle phenomenon discovered?

AN INTERNATIONAL team of scientists has revealed its research results, which suggest the existence of previously unknown elementary particles. The group which did the research, led by Japan's High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation, thinks the new particles could help unlock the mystery of the structure of the universe, as well as supersymmetric particles, which at the moment can't be explained by existing theories.
The findings were made public at an international conference in Beijing, and have claimed to have discovered an all-new phenomenon, resulting from the use of a large accelerator called B Factory with which particles were made to collide with each other at high speed, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

The majority of experimental results so far have been explained away by the standard model of particle physics, that is, the model which distinguishes between elementary particles – such as quarks that are the building blocks for protons and neutrons, and those that convey force, for example protons. However, the research team reckons the model might not explain the new phenomenon, which hints at the existence of both heavy and unknown elementary particles.

Apparently, the High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation has announced what it claims to be the new phenomenon last summer, and has been working on its findings. Professor Masanori Yamauchi of the Japanese research group has said Stanford University also had similar findings, suggesting that there is a very high chance a new particle phenomenon has been discovered. µ
