Besides, why is it that most of who we try to put in office (esp. the Democrats) start out as lawyers? Don't we dislike those creatures?

I think the guy in the article put it right. Kids see the images on TV and they are negative and immediately they see it as a bad thing and that the US is the aggressor. Maybe the schools aren't doing a good job of showing the justification for the US going into Iraq, not sure. Just so you know, I've been down here for almost 18 years now, so things have changed a little. I don't remember any "US bashing" in school or anything like that. I think part of the problem is also how Americans act towards Canada, and other countries in general. Americans talk A LOT of crap about Canada. I hear it every day. Now I know that the jabs at me are all in fun and I take it as that and have no problem with it. But I think it's one of those things where you put down people or their accomplishments enough (even in jest) and it's going to become a sore spot. So there tends to be a lot of bad feelings between the two countries (as the jabs do go both ways). Canada has an immense national pride, on par with the US. And Canadians, like Americans, do not like to be put down or made to be weak. I think the war has put a strain on the relations between the two countries. Anyway, I think I've gotten way off track and I know your comment was not meant to offend in anyway, and it was not taken as such. Just sharing my views a bit.
As for the stat, not sure where it came from but I would hope that is not the popular opinion. Having lived here for so long, while not as patriotic about America as I am about Canada, I do have a strong connection and hate to see any animosity between the two countries. It may take some mending on both sides.

And we love you too Moxie. I never mean that all Americans do. I know lots of people that love Canada. There are those that like to put others down though.

And for the record, Christy and I really enjoyed our time in B.C. We enjoyed all the people we met there during our honeymoon...okay, so we spent most of our time in our room, but we still did a little sightseeing. We were going to go back for our fifth anniversary, but it'll be closer to our seventh (after our upcoming little girl is about 2 years old) before we have a shot at it.

The twitting I did was strictly in the context of trusting us to vote...correctly...in the upcoming elections and was totally intended as humor, nothing more.
