I don't want to be in that 1%

Post by bio » Tue Feb 24, 2004 1:21 pm

After talking to my neurosurgeon yesterday, I found out of a potential risk with the upcoming (yeah... whatever!) surgery.

Apparently, since they come in through the stomach to get to the spine, they have to move a few things. In men, there are a bundle of nerve fibers in that area that control the flow of seminal fluid during ejaculation.

If the nerves become damaged, there's the possibility that the little valves in a mans daddy parts might get mixed up, and send sperm into the bladder instead of down the urethra and out of the body.

I guess that would be an "injaculation".

Fortunately, it only happens to about 1% of men that the surgery is performed on... but seriously... how fucking weird would that be?!?

As the neurosurgeon put it (and I quote): "No more wet spot".

Yeah, and it would make that vasectomy you had a while back be pretty much worthless :)

My wife is scheduled for a hysterectomy in April, so we'll have double insurance against pregnancy anyway.

Bio,

Just read the latest blog entry, turning down your old doc.

After having read your prediciment over the last few months, I think you've probably done the right thing. I thought it very weird, when you wrote in the previous post that the guy suddenly seemed to have a change of heart. WTF? It sounded to me like someone called him up and said, "hey look man, this guy is about come undone on you, in a big legal way". Which I also believe is why you yanked the earlier post that kind of drilled the guy in a slanderous kind of way. Might be interesting to know if he reads this forum.

On the better note, I think you've done the right thing by seeking other options and opinions. I'm anxious to see how your next tests go, the ones where they stick the needles and and get some real dope on the disks. (or did you have that part done already?)

Either way, back shit is bad shit. I've seen you gimp around at work it's painful to watch (good thing you stay at home now) 8)

Just know that since I've found out and talked with you even a little about your condition, I've been praying for you off and on, as I remember. I think having found another doc, with another opinion, might have been a small answer, and I pray it continues to help.

Now back to your regularly scheduled weirdness
