Movie rental troubles

So I rented a couple movies last month, one for me (The Italian Job), one for the kid (Casper). Then returned them the next day as I was heading out of town for the week. Last week I start getting automated phone calls from Kermit the Frog. Yes you read that right, Kermit was calling to remind me that I still had movies rented from Hastings that needed to be returned. At first I thought they had it wrong, then I decided to go check it out, just to be sure. I asked the guy about it, he ran my card and said I had no late fees. So I'm thinking, okay, wrong number. Then his manager comes by and he asks her. She takes a look and sees that Casper was still checked out. I said "I don't think so". I told her I returned both that and The Italian Job on 10/26 as I was heading out of town. She pulls up my history and it shows that The Italian Job was rented on 10/25 (that's right) and was checked back in on 11/5 (way wrong). Not to mention the day I went in was 11/5, and I had no late charges assesed. So after discussing with her she says not to worry, if/when it comes back in I won't have to pay charges. ?? If/when? Why do I feel another VW incident coming on?

On a slightly related note: I rented Charlie's Angels, Full Throttle this weekend. Wow, what a horrible movie. I liked the first one cause it did that slightly over the top kinda stuff in a tounge-in-cheek way. This time they went WAAAYYY overboard. To the point it was just stupid. I mean the gals are nice to look at, but they've all done other movies that are much better to watch them in. If you haven't seen it, and are thinking of seeing it, I recommend passing. But that's just me.

hehe... I could have told you Charlies Angels was bad without watching it.

I watched Arlington Road last night. Good flick that ends in a way other than you suspect. I love it when that happens.

Hopefully I'll get out to see the new Matrix soon.

I recently rently 28 Days Later (about how long I took to return it) and HULK. 28 Days Later was AWESOME though not scary AT ALL. HULK was great, the special effect superb, I didn't know Nick Nolte was in it. The only complaint I have was the final scene was at night making it hard to see.

I purchased the Hulk without seeing it first.

While I had doubts about it, I'm a DVD junkie and will buy anything if the price is right. I actually enjoyed it (but agree about the end being damn dark).

See there's this old movie thing called a 'plot' where there's a slow build up of the action and the protagonist encounters the antogonist and then there's a conflict and then finally a resolution. If you weren't asleep you would have found the second half of the movie to be full of action and drama, that was even MORE exciting due to all the personal connection you had with the characters after seing the FIRST half.

Most modern movies start like this "BANG....BOOOM......WHAM......~fin~.

I couldn't get any emotional connection to the people, they were too boring. I got as far as the part with the hulked out dogs, which I though looked super dumb, then my mind checked out...

I'm going to have to agree with JC on this one. I didn't think Hulk was the greatest, but I did like it quite a bit. I was afraid they'd skimp on the Hulk sceens but they gave a great balance. My only complaint is the editing, trying to make the transitions like reading a comic book. That's great for comics, but distracting in a movie.

I could've told you even without watching it that Hulk was gonna be a big bag of ass. Same with the Daredevil flick. Remember the last time the "comic book to movies" trend came around?

Let's remember:
Any Superman movie
Both Capatain America movies
The Punisher Movie
The Nick Fury movie

Stan Lee needs to croak. Thanks a lot, shitbag, you just dug the industry into the ground.

Long live graphic novels though. And Preacher. And decent comic strips (so essentially, nothing in the newspaper). L.M. Boyd is the only reason I read that area. And the Scrabble puzzle.

Stan Lee barely serves as a "consultant" on the movies and makes next to nothing from the franshises he created. Hollywood greed is that which pisses you off. Lee just shows up and does the interviews and gets a $1 million a year stipend from Marvel for being an editor emeritus. I saw this on 60 minutes. He gets next to nothing. Marvel owns all the rights and is selling every property it can get snapped up.

It's been a damn long time since I saw a comic that didn't bore the shit out of me. As far as I'm concerned it went to shit when it became an "industry." Let it die. Let it go and become fully independent. Let the ones who really feel the format take over. Comics, like every other facet of the entertainment industry, need a massive C-4 enema.

I agree. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters, I didn't care if Jennifer Connely lived or died or if they fell in love or not. It was just, somehow, lacking in the quality that makes you go "yeah!" along with it all. And it was unbelievably predictable, which is a death sentence in my head. The only scene I really liked was the dog fight, because- I mean, C'mon- a killer poodle? The jokes wrote themselves.

I didn't bother with Daredevil. I think Ben Affleck is a tool. Him and Matt Damon are just bad all together. I remember seeing Matt Damon in a movie called "School Ties" (1994) and my best friend at the time thought he was hot. I couldn't stop laughing at her about it because I always thought he looked like what a Babrie doll looks like when you squeeze her face together. Ok, and "Good Will Hunting"? Collegiate feel-good crap.
