Jester was giving me a ride home last night (as I've given up driving in favor of taking pain pills), when my cell phone rang.
My wife requested my presence at the music store, as she and my son decided it was a good idea to purchase him a bass clarinet.
$1,100 later... he's the proud owner of a lovely Yamaha in near mint condition (it's used... you don't want to know what a new one costs). It's clad in black stained wood (no cheap plastic for my kid!) and scratch/dent free.
That's two instruments in the last 12 months (I had purchased an alto sax for my youngest... also quite expensive).
If either one becomes bored with their purchase... I'll kill 'em!

There's no money in Jazz - they should be learning electric guitar!

Probobly... but that's what he wanted.
And it's important for him to stay in band. He played the bass clarinet last year (a loaner from the school) but this year they gave him an Obo (which he hated). I didn't want to see him give up on music.

You are a good dad to fork over that kind of cash.

There are precious few better gifts you could give him. You're one of the good ones, Bio.
