Apple isn't messing around. They've already discontinued that spiffy little iPhone they just came out with. The replacement is $200 less and has twice the memory.
They also announced the new iPod (which is just an iPhone with no phone capabilities) and a new Nano.
Well, that was $500 shot in the ass!

Anyone who early-adopts any new piece of tech should do so with the knowledge that within three months something newer, faster, and shinier will come out making you a fool for having rushed in and purchased that old piece of crap that was the very glimmer in God's eye three months ago.
Or, just buy cool stuff and enjoy it until it breaks.
That said, me and my 30G audio iPod have had a very lovely two years and we'll be soon seeing a new addition to the family in the form of a widescreen iPod Touch. I've been waiting for this for a very long time as Encap will attest.

My nano is one of my favorite pieces of electronic equipment. I use it 2 hours a day, haven't had any problems with it, and the mobility just rocks. Yes, if it gets a scratch or even hints at going fubar, I'll get a larger one, but the 4gb has held up decent.
That iPod Touch is quite sexy. Let us know when it works out.

I really like the new nano. I think when my Samsung 1gb pukes that will be it's replacement.
The only thing I am not sure about is the new Interface. While it is all nice and spiffy it seems like the older version may have been easier to locate albums and such. Maybe I just am use to searching with text than with pics. I noticed that when Jobs was showing it off it had a lag time while bringing up the album covers.
I do like the iPod touch alot but for what I use it for the nano is more practical.

Well apparently enough [s]early adopters[/s], or rather, scalpers who dumped a shitload into them so they could sell them on eBay bitched about it and now Jobs is giving them $100 shopping cards for the Apple store. Which is way more than these people deserve. How about all the numerous times they've sold computers only to have the processor speeds or harddrive capacity jump the next week? That's happened to me every time I've bought any piece of tech. Someone owes me a trouble-free fate!

I think Apple has a fair policy but anyone who may have purchased a iPhone at a big box retailer may be entitled to go back 30 days with their price match guarantee.Apple Store wrote:Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 10 calendar days of shipment, you may contact Apple Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775 to request a refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 business days of shipment.
