In one hour
My daughter and I will walk the block and a half to the elementary school for her first day of Kindergarten.

That's a very interesting time.
You'll mope around the house for 4 hours.... it's the first time she's really been gone (other than when you had someone watch her), and you know that it's going to be 5 days a week for the next 18 years.
She'll come home excited! Fingerpaint, juice and cookies, and new kids to play with.

Encap, Heeheehee!
It's actually not very weird for any of us, because she went to day care for a couple years. We took her out in March and I've been home with her, just enjoying the time. As for the hours at home, that I skipped too, because an hour after I dropped her off I went to work. My brother has a small restaurant in city hall, downtown, that he could use an extra hand with during the lunch hours of 11-2, and that's perfect for me. We are getting rid of our hunk of crap for a car and making use of public transportation from here on. It's much cheaper, *much* less stressful in the winter time (when driving in the snow and ice with your child makes for nervousness), and, of course, better for the environment, which is something we've been moving towards. So because of the bus system here, I only have three or four hours to work, and getting downtown is by far the easiest and quickest thing for me to do. The bus stop is a block and a half from my house. I get an hour to myself after walking her to school and another hour to myself when I get home. It's leisurely and lovely.
