Not from Planet Earth. I think its from one of those Animal Planet countdown to the world's 10 most extreme whatever....

I have the Planet Earth box, which is even better than you saw on Discover. It restores the original BBC soundtrack (David Attenborough instead of Sigourney Weaver) and the lack of hours of commercials from oil companies trying to convince you they're environmentally friendly both make this the way to see it. And the clarity on the standard definition DVD is reference level quality. I recommend it whole-heartedly.

I got it and this for graduation. And a lot of very excellent money.

Nice!! 8)

I didn't actually get to watch it when it was on tv, so I won't have a basis of comparison. I dig miz Weaver though, too bad you can't choose. I thought about getting it for my Dad as a birthday gift in August. I would get it for him to DadDay but I've already planned to get his a monogram streak brand.

Best. Father's. Day. Gift. Ever.

I've had a crush on Weaver since I was a little kid and she battled the Alien in her underwear. Unfortunately her delivery is a touch too dry in places, making the delivery a little too pious/smug in parts where the hand of man is felt on nature. But your mileage may vary.

I'm constantly amazed at how unpopular these shows typically are. Here is a window to the most amazing shit in the world, and people would rather watch I Love New York. "Nature's boring." Whatever. Anyway, this one was a lot more popular, but it was marketed as an event so it follows that people were primed for it. Our whole family was gathered around the television each Sunday night. How often does that happen anymore?
