All the meat you can fit in your mouth...

...and not show up on the seedy parts of youtube.

The anual youth auction is about to happen in this fine town. Next week, a whole bunch of 16 year old kids are gonna try and sell a beutiful animal they've been taking the utmost in care of for a full year to make enough money to buy their first car.

The only problem is that I've only got enough freaser space for half a beef (insert silly falic joke here). I might have bought a bit more than I needed last year. If you're looking for half or a quarter of a beef, holler! It is an auction, so I can't commit to pricing other than history, last year we bought the 6th graded beef out of a field of over 200 at 1500lbs for $1800 before packaging. Even if the butcher's blind, that's less that $2 per pound and it's some of the yummiest meat you'll likely come across.

Gimme a holler if you're interested.

This is a really great way to go. If I wasn't already committed to a cow this fall, I'd be all over this. Having done something similar for almost 5 years now, its the best of both worlds: great pricing, and sensibly raised cows. Like farm eggs, the taste of non-mass-corn fed beef is a fine thing.

Good work ironpants, as you could tell my heavy bias in the omnivore post, I like to see finding alternate sources of food, and knowing where it comes from.

I'm not at all opposed to this idea. I wish I had a freezer and a potential partner within my own time zone to explore this.
