Find a new scapegoat!

Post by bio » Thu Apr 12, 2007 4:06 pm

My son showed me a chart he found via stumble, and I decided to verify it.

It shows the number of violent crimes in the US by year, from 1973 - 2005, then parallels it with video games.

I've reproduced it here (it's kinda wide, so I made it a spoiler)

Basically... it says that blaming video games and music for violent acts is a bunch of horse shit. End of story.

I've included a few "violent" video games and a Marilyn Manson album in the timeline. You can view the raw data and more at the U.S. Department of Justice's website (specifically on this page).

All those mom's whining about violence in the media need to shut up now.

This goes to show that when someone wants to kill people nowadays, they don't have to go out and do it, they can simulate it in a video game.

Crazy people now have outlets. In fact, if Bio wasn't posting in here all of the time and killing people on his PC, he would be out shooting real people who piss him off when his back hurts.

Now if they only made a game called "caught" where a guy comes home from work early, finds his wife in bed with the neighbor, and the fun insues from there.

They only ever need scapegoats for this during election years. Its a political distraction, nothing more. You'll note that Hillary dropped the issue very quickly when she wasn't getting any mileage out of it.

You guys should read Everything bad is good for you. Absolutely marvelous book. I so dispise people who piss and moan about tv and video games.

After the past week, I'm fairly certain the news media is responsible for violence among our youth. Not video games.

Amen, brother futon!!

The media's goal isn't to inform the public, it seems more interested in inciting fear into the masses.
