Skype is the brainchild of Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis (the guys who started KaZaA) and is a P2P telephony program.

Simply put... you install it, your friends install it, and you can "call" them via the web. No cost, excelent sound quality, call anywhere in the world.

There's been a few similar products over the years (you can do it with netmeeting), but this is the first P2P one I've heard of (and from what other people are telling me, the voice quality is excelent).

I haven't installed it yet, so I don't know all the functions it has, but in theory, you should be able to talk to someone while sharing files with them (ie: yak at grandma while sending her pictures of the kids from your digital camera).

Could be big.
