Life just got more interesting...

Post by bio » Fri Aug 08, 2003 1:42 pm

We had a meeting in the VP's office today.

The end result of thus said meeting: I get the honor of working graveyard for a while (the end date is undecided... in fact, there is none as far as I know).

We've been having issues that require a live body who's awake durring the middle of the night. I guess that body is me (sucks to be low man on the todem pole sometimes).

Anyway... my posts will most likely be coming in durring the middle of the night after today (the new shift starts sunday night).

Will you be by yourself? That would be sweet - no annoying co-workers!

If you don't count the janitor or the security guard, I'll be alone.

Actually... I'll be the only engineer in the building (we have security and housekeeping here all night, that's it).

Of course, I have to do my normal job too... so I'll be pretty busy, but I'll be able to do it fairly undisturbed (unless the janitor wants to chat).

A bit of lateral thinking and a dose of "look on the bright side" is required here.

Just think of it as a holiday to Australia without the roos, vegemite and travel :manic:

Heh... it's actually not so bad. I enjoy graveyard because it's quiet. And I'm not really going to miss any family time, as I'll be working while they're asleep, sleeping while they're at school/work, and awake when they all come home.

It beats being unemployed :-)

Sounds like a dream-come-true to me. I would love to have a night shift job.

Heh.. it's now sunday morning (5:25 to be exact).

Baldy has been keeping me up all night, trying to get my body used to the new shift. We've been getting our heads handed to us in Battlefield1942 (wheeee, fun!). :D

Of course, the whimp just went to bed, and I need to stay up for a few more hours so that I sleep properly durring the day.

ug...

It's monday morning and i'm half way through my first shift.

this sucks

anyway... I'm looking for crap to keep me awake. If any of you are up late at night/early in the morning (between midnight and 8 am PST) and happen to mirc, let me know the server and channel... I'll join in the fun.

On a totally unrelated note... since i'm here to verify network connectivity, I brought my webcam in (it will alert me if it can't reach my server from here). If you online while I'm at work, you can view the back of my head here

It's 6:30 and you're nowhere to be seen. You're asleep under your desk, aren't you?

Nah... Calvin just came in to work.

He's going over things with me because I'm covering him next week while he's on vacation.

Not quite sure how that's gonna pan out, because he works durring the day. I'll have to ask my boss about it.

Tired...

I wish.

What's more likely going to happen is I'll be going to 14 hour shifts for the days he has off.

Wheeeeee!
