The one we rented was totally different.
It had a 4 cylinder engine, crap tranny, cheap seats, etc. Total base model. This is the high end version... shiny and pretty and sexy.
It's at the dealer's now (they're fixing the cruise control). They said they'd get me a loaner for the day, so I assumed they'd give me one of their demo cars. Instead, they called Trifty Car Rental.
Thrifty picked me up and took me to their lot. They told me that I could have a car. "Um... no... I just purchased a SUV... I want an SUV". They said they couldn't do that unless I paid the difference. I told them to call the dealer, which they did. The dealer told them "Give him anything he wants".
So... I'm driving around in a Chrysler Pacifica... leather everything, DVD Navigation (which is damned annoying), etc. We thought about looking at this car too... but after driving it across town, I think we got the right rig.

Time to whine:
I pay 30c in the dollar income up to $58k, then I pay 42c in the dollar up to $70k, and 47c in the dollar above that.
We also pay a 3% medicare levy (which pays for health care of the people who don't bother getting insurance) and about $35 bucks a week goes on said private health insurance also.
Oh, and our gas is over $1 a litre!
oh, and don't get me started on internet connection prices over here!

Locked in a room with you, 2 tigers and a gun with 2 bullets, I'd shoot you twice.

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.

If Australia is anything like England though... there's ways around the taxes.
Rather than give you a raise that will bump you into a higher tax bracket, companies will give you a car allowance, clothing allowance, housing allowance, etc.
Buy a car, company pays for it, they pay your rent, buy your clothes.... it still works.
