It's the end of the world

OMG!!

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

And yes... that link is quite real.

I've been watching the hysteria on CNET. We have a real contender for hype of the year. This will amount to exactly jack-shit, except that there will be a massive turnaround in the software market. Old owners will piss and moan and then eventually go with the new. Newer owners will likely be supported for another five years.

It might mean a wider base for alternate vid cards and whatnot, but apart from these bumps, mac will continue to be mac. They made the decision they had to and they're not stupid. The platform will continue in the best possible fashion.

The people who should be really worried are IBM. They don't have a lot left now.

And in somewhat related news, we're installing a low cost, high speed SAN from Apple, go figure. It's about twice as fast as our EMC and about 1/10th the price. I'll report back later after we've used it for a couple of months :)

1/10th the price? That is related news.
