Someone died at our school!
Wow, I never thought you could get addicted to coca~cola in this day (read:had actual coke in coke long ago). I have actually tried to switch to a different soda like Sprite Remix, I was on it in about a week. And I am serious, when I was really stressed, I bought a coke instead. So much for me loosing the coca-cola. Canofcoke, by saying you want to drink so bad you'll keep thinking about it. Keep your mind off the alcohol. I suggest that because if you want a girlfriend....a lot of them don't like drinking.

I'm a little late on this thread, but I had one thing to contribute.
Drinking while using a hot tub can be even more fatal. The hot water causes your body to absorb the alcohol much faster. Seems to me there was a young girl in Spokane some 10 years ago who was left for dead by her pals in a hot tob. They claim they had no idea; thought she had just passed out and left her there, thinking she'd wake up.
Nope. Died of alcohol poisoning, from a fairly low amount, but rapid absorbtoin due to the hot water in the hot tub.
Think before you drink.
yes, I too have a drink at times, I just know ahead of time what I'm getting into into.

You need to be VERY careful about that kind of attitude (not to come off all parental and such). Just because you think you were able to stop once doesn't mean you will again. And there are much healthier ways of escape or relieving stress. Exercise being one of them. Also, didn't you already say your grades dropped when you were drinking?canofcoke wrote:I'm not sure I agree with you rocketdork. I mean, I was drinking the majority of the week, getting drunk probably about once a week but I had then and still have now a 4.0. I'm in honors, orchestra, etc. I'm not sure of my opinion. I mean, if you dont have that escape, it can build up. Stress, pressure, etc. I cant rule it out as something thats wrong to use to escape with. I mean, I loved it and I was able to stop.
It's a slippery slope drinking is. It's socially acceptable to drink and to get drunk so you're more apt to do it. But for people who easily sucumb to addiction it's very dangerous. It can ruin your life. I lived with alcoholics and it's a nasty situation.
I have no problem with drinking in moderation, or even if you happen to go overboard once in a while. But when it becomes a craving or a need, then you have a problem. My suggestion to you is, if you are craving it, needing it, then you really need to talk to someone about it. I know "kids will be kids" and such but again when you are doing it to fulfill a need or craving then you should probably think twice about it. Take that for what you will.
I've tried to stay away from this thread because this is an extremely sensitive subject for me, but I just can't keep my thoughts to myself any longer.
COC - From reading your posts on this topic, you still don't seem to grasp the danger alcohol poses. I'm curious as to why you don't see the danger in using alcohol as a crutch, or a means to escape.
People die every day from alcohol abuse, lives are ruined, relationships are destroyed....
I have a beer now and then, I used to drink a few beers a week but over the past year, I've pretty much stopped altogether.
I don't understand how you could "drink for the majority of the week, getting drunk about once a week" and not see the effect it had on your life, on your family, your friends....
It' saddens me to know that there are people who don't get it; that don't understand how excessive alcohol WILL ruin your life.

I did a pretty extensive search and found nothing about a student dying...even in blogs from kids in that area.
Methinks I smell a rat.
