Muh back hurts!

Ahhhh… what a glorious weekend!

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and my wife borrowed a trailer so we could clean out the garage.

Our garage has been chock full-o-crap since we bought the house 5 years ago. To be fair, not all of it was ours. We inherited a large amount of “what the hell is that?â€￾ from the previous owners (a Vietnamese family who owned a lot of very odd stuff). While the amount of junk they left was rivaled only by the smell of kimche in the fridge, there was a lot of it.

A friend loaned us his trailer, a 5′ x 10′ wooden sided unit (5′ deep) with no shocks (the axel was welded directly to the frame… more on that later). I had to run out and buy an adaptor and extension for the lighting rig (as we have a 7 pin round connector on our Durango and he had the 4 pin flat connector on his trailer.

I did laugh when I saw the license plate on it: 9999-MB. My comment: “Wow… this trailer holds nearly 10 GB of stuff!!â€￾
Yeah… I’m a geek!

We ended up hauling 4 loads out of there (just over 2,000 pounds or 907kg) and we still have a little left. Its a big garage!

On the last trip out, we had a little excitement. We hit a pretty good bump and because the trailer didn’t have any shocks, it popped the hitch off the ball. Good times ensued at 35mph (56.3kph)! Thank God I attached the chain to the back of our rig or it might have gone straight into the river (though that would have saved us the trouble and expense of unloading it at the waste transfer station).

I pulled over and gently slowed down to a stop, put it back on, and we were on the road again (though at a slightly slower speed).

We spent the evening sitting in the garage, drinking beers and basking in the glory that is open space. There’s still quite a few boxes in there that we have to go through, but I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to park the Durango in there soon.

Since we are in the weekend sharing mode...

My weekend suxored. It started with a trip to Colfax to pick up my son and a friend of his, that was the best part of the weekend. I hadn't been feeling very good most of the day friday, so when we got home at about 9:30 it was straight to bed for me. With the aid of a little Nyquil, I slept soundly till about 8am the next morning. I woke up with a splitting headache. Standard headache protocol for me is drink a lot of water (the headaches I get are usually caused by dehydration). Not working, a handful of asprin later, I could almost think. Took a 2 hour nap at 1, then more asprin and more water, bed time was at 9...

Sunday woke to the same headache, but decided I needed to try to get my sons computer running again. We saved off all the stuff he wanted to keep and a format and re-install of Windoze XP followed. No dice, there is something wrong with the network card, I think. It won't grab an IP address from my router. Still trying to figure that out. The haze in my head wasn't helping me out much. Did a bunch of diagnostics (5 hours worth) and found NOTHING wrong...WTF? Hand fulls of asprin and lots of water helped me make it through the day. My son and friend got picked up around 7. I'm sure a disabled dad made for a great weekend for him. He just played games on the net (runescape) the whole weekend.

Watched part of the new "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" with my step daughter, Sunday night in front of the TV is a weekly "date" for us, America's Funniest Videos is usually on the menu, except when that damn Extreme Makeover pre-empts it. I went to bed around 9:30...

Painful weekend, boring weekend. I had big plans, none of them came to be.

I am way behind on my rocket building. I have a 6" diameter rocket I need to get done prior to April...I haven't even started.

Changed oil in the ZX2 (can you believe I actually drive an ESCORT?)
Put sinding on wall number three of my pump house (just one more wall to go). Fixed my phpBB site by upgrading to 2.0.11 (Thanks Bio)

Generally, I had a calm weekend, got some work done, no injuries.

Yea!
