Before we set my server to dump mail addressed to non active addresses into /dev/null/ (aka, the bit bucket), I would have, on average, about 3,500 mails floating around in the queue at all times.
I don't have all the statistics but it's a safe bet that I recieve over 10,000 spams per day on this box. That's a lot of bandwidth.
