Nah, the Prius is shit. I know of a really great 1998 Volkswagen Passat that you could probably get for a good price.

Make sure you get the 2004 (and not a 2003). It gets 10 mpg higher than the previous model (70 mpg on the highway) and has more power.

Of course, power in the Prius is a subjective term (0-60 in 10 seconds).

It (or a hybrid/alternative fuel vehicle like it) will be my next car.

The MSRP is around $20,000 - not any more than most cars.

Yeah, my wife is looking at those now too. She's all about helping the environment, and hey if it saves on gas I'm up for it.

Unless you live in Oregon, where they've added a $2500 fee for cars like that.

It's to make up for the loss of gas taxes.

How lame is that?

We don't have gas taxes here. Not at the consumer end of it at least. Still pay over 1.80 a gallon, though.

have you seen the honda civic hybrid? Looks like a normal car. The prius does have a bit of a different look to it, I like it.

I can't wait until we can finally get rid of buring oil entirely. Not just for the environment, but also so those bastards in OPEC can't bend us over a barrel anymore.

Yuck! That thing looks like something that came out the poop chute of my last dragon. You need something more like an Enterprise class Aircraft carrier that burns dinosaur oil and spews hurricanes of black choking smoke.

On the other hand, it is kind of cute, in a puppy dog sort of way.

I'm all for driving an environmentally friendly vehicle, I think horses are all the rage.

Personally, I'd like to have a new hyrbrid, gas-electric or gas-hdryogen or hdryogen-electric, you get the idea. But until then, I'll stick with my good old fashioned 450hp, 0-60 in 4.3 seconds (or less) dino-powered flame-burner.

Thank you.

Get it and drive me around in it. That'd rock.

And as an added bonus you'll get my rant about the H2:

It has bastardized Hummer's name. It's essentially a cheap hummer. I mean, if you're going to buy the biggest, msot impractible, lowest MPG, oversized beast you might as well buy the best, no? To me, it's like buying the lowest-class Mercedez-Benz: sure, you have a Benz, but it's a cheap Benz and therefor should be considered a Lexus or what-have-you.

And not to mention it's Joseph Merrick-like levels of ugliness. If you purchase one you get to join the ranks of Aztek, Subarau-baja-whatever, Avalanch (and Caddilac version), PT Cruiser, and Honda Elelment owners in the "Moustached-Lady Club". It simply means you have an ugly-ass ride.

I would wait a few months for Ford & Chevy's hybrids to come out, i have heard good things about the Ford Escape hybrid and it was even on 60 minutes.
