What I Like About You

Post by miftah » Tue May 17, 2005 6:38 am

I saw this on another board and I think its a fun idea. It's a simple concept: Pick a member of the board. Say three things you like about them. They are called out and have to pick someone to say three things about someone else, but it can't be the person that called you out. You got to wait for someone to call you to start. It's a little awkward at first, but if you stay with it, it ends up being pretty cool.

So I'm starting the thread...I guess I have to start with someone right? Here's hoping this doesn't go down in flames like most threads I start.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three things I like about Bugfreezer:
1. Obviously expert knowledge of insects and other creepy-crawly things. As technical conversations on this board go, and there are many, his are always my favorite. He knows his bugs and loves to educate about them. In particular, the crazy sand spiders pic from Iraq. Fascinating.

2. One of the more empathetic members of this board. I get a genuine sense of his enthusiasm for others. He seems most likely to really get into threads that others start.

3. One of the most rational political debaters on this board (when we did such things). His views seemed to always directly contradict mine, but I never had the sense that we were in conflict. Which was rare.

Wow, thanks.

This is tough, since there are so many....

Three things I like about Painted:

1. Can hold her own with the grownups. Has an "old soul" quality.

2. Asks thought provoking questions in such a way that you forget she's still in high school, although not for long.

3. From observation of the various threads, we could almost call her the "morale officer" - she tends to perk things up in a positive way.
Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.

I am still working on it .. can we have more than one input? There are things I admire about all the "every day" posters... I don't know who to pick :x

You have time to think about it Pigman. Painted still hasn't replied and who knows who she'll pick?

Sorry I didn't reply soon, I had band practice and had to go and see if I could pay for my college thing, they were closed. Argh.

I choose Bio:

1. He always makes people laugh and has a great sarcastic sense of humor that I really like. He can both agree with you and contradict you.
2. He is intellegent. I like that I can be able to hold an intellegent conversation with him (since people my age lack intellegence).
3. He is not affraid to show his femanin side. He's the most dainty man I have ever met. He is almost always willing to help somebody.

Although some of that sounds like an insult, it's not...it's all true, and a good thing, in my eyes.

I am sooo never gonna shake the whole "everyone thinks your gay but you" routine.

Give me a few minutes to collect my thoughts and I'll post.

Three things I like about Trevor (Eddie)

1. I have known him since 1994 when he sported a beard and pony tail. I thought it may piss him off if I noted (and broadcast) that he looked like what Eddie Munsterwould look like all grown up. (It didn't & he does). Over the decade +, I have tried and failed to annoy him. In fact, he seems to like being called Eddie as far as I can tell. (It would be unfortunate if he ever found it it was Eddie Haskell NOT Eddie Munster that I have always compaired him to. So the "what do I like" part is that he has always been able to take any amount of ribbing I can come up with.

2. Flat out nice guy. Always willing to look at all sides of any issue and give you a fair shake (even if he is a Canadian).

3. Even though without the beard and long hair he is starting to look like Howdy Doody I still think he is a very great guy! I find him difficult to spin up and has a calming effect on all those around him. In fact, if I was anywhere near as gay as Bio, I would want to date our Eddie!

Dork! You spoke out of turn! :-)

Since I'm supposed to be the one in rotation....

I choo-choo-choose... Eve!

Three things I like about Eve:
1) She has a wicked sharp sense of humor. I can't begin to imagine how many hours over the last decade I've spent talking to her online... and I've spent most of that time laughing from the witty things she's said.
2) She's very bright. Any woman who can set up a linux server and do webhosting from the comfort of her own home is SUPER OK NUMBER 1 with me!
3) She has the sexiest ascii I've ever laid my eyes on  I've never actually seen what she looks like (she doesn't share pictures) but I've got a vision in my mind. Oh yeah... she's fine!

oh man, I have gone all pink n stuff... and yeah, I look EXACTLY like the ascii  (well, at least in my dreams!)

This is hard for me cuz I don't know people here very well, cept for you Biobutt you sexy bugger!

However, I'll go for Miftah, as I think he's a bit of a kindred spirit.

What I like about Miftah:

1. He says what he's thinking and doesn't give a shit about what anyone else thinks!

2. He's passionate. Passion is good. Whether about music, art, his personal views. Lord knows, there aren't enough passionate people in this world!

3. He's deeply into music. So am I. Although our tastes might not match, if I had to give up everything in the world and keep just one, it would be music.

Thanks Eve!

Three things I like about Pigman:

1. Hey, heard any good (or fantastically bad) jokes lately?

2. Passionate about the protection of those who protect us (i.e. the men and women of our armed forces), which is a truly righteous point of view.

3. One of the most generous members of this board, he's extremely supportive and genuinely interested in what other people think.

Given that Pigman already went and fingered Eddie, I guess that makes it Eddie's turn. Further, given that Eddie has had a week to think about it, I imagine he'll make it a good one...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mr. Miftah ... I am very happy to have met you! And may I mention that you have taught me something about passion ...

Mainly that the amount of an individuals passion need not be measured by their perception of agreement or non-agreement of any one else.

Also to be aware of how difficult it can be to communicate in a verbal only environment. (I.E. when you subtract seeing or hearing the other person directly, it can make it much harder to "understand" what is actually being communicated and what is NOT being communicated.)

I hereby give you "permission" to "advise" me in anything you may think may make my life better!

(NOTE: the first individual to suggest Miftah and I get a room or any such inference, should expect to be beaten with cheese sticks or some other weapon agreed upon by the offended parties!)
