LAWYER Johnnie Cochran, who defended OJ Simpson against murder charges, has died.
Mr Cochran, who defended a range of celebrities including rappers P Diddy, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and Tupac Shakur lost his battle with a brain tumour yesterday.
The 67-year-old became famous for the phrase: "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit," in the OJ Simpson case.
Cochran noted his client was apparently unable to put on a pair of gloves believed to have been used by the killer of his wife and her friend and came up with the slogan.
Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz said: "He was an inspiration to many, many young lawyers.
"It’s a sad, sad day."
--- you can go back to jail now.
