Speaking of new servers...

Post by ironpants » Mon Sep 27, 2004 3:03 pm

I'm the database architect at my current company. Six months ago, we began planning our datacenter upgrade. The project goal was to be able to handle 10 times the load we were handling at that time without leaving the Windows MSSQL platform. We did a LOT of shopping for BIG hardware, got it installed in our new NOC in downtown Seattle and started to work on the migration plan as our old NOC was in Californa. Down time costs us big, so it took quite a bit of effort to get everything in place.

Long story short, after a week of hard work with only 28 hours of sleep, I'm the proud papa of three of these cuties They tell me there are only 9 in production west of the missippi and I have 3 of them!

This migration was truely an awe inspiring project. I'll post the links to the white papers when they're prepared for those uber geeks interested.

As I still have a nascent interest in data abuse, I would definitely like to see those papers!

Well... I have a Beowulf cluster of Gateway Pentium 60 computers donated to St. Vincent DePaul, Microsoft Windows 3.11, and MS Access 4.01!

Beat that, biznatch!
