Apparently theres an issue with private messages where you can't delete them from your inbox. This apparently exists in phpbb versions 3.2.9 - 3.3.0 (latest) and will be addressed in the next build.
There is a 3rd party patch, but those make me nervous, so unless anyone absolutely throws a fucking hissy fit of titanic proportions about their inability to delete private messages, I'm gonna wait for the update.
The biggest takeaway for most users: private messages are a thing!

They released phpbb v3.3.1 and I've updated the board. You may now delete messages from your PM box.
