Did abstinence work for you?

I am assuming (pby incorrectly) that most of us received education about sex that at LEAST included abstinece...no need to reveal identity here...just a general question.

Not trying to start a political debate on this topic either...

I've never understood why children need to be educated about abstinence. Don't most kids who aren't having sex painfully aware of the option of not having sex? Well, I'm okay with it, as long as it includes education on masturbation as an alternative. I mean, if we're going to preach one redundent form of birth control, what's wrong with another one?
