I haven't had one of those in forever (you were most likely at the last one. There's no plans to have another any time soon.

Most of the people who attended were SSI (and it's dead and gone). I have no way (or much desire) to find the majority of them. The kids where I work now aren't really into that kind of thing.

So... it's basically my sons and I playing a mini lan every night (Battlefield Vietnam with the Point of Existance mod mostly).

heh.

I -did- get Descent II working on my Linux box at work last week. Yea, it was a slow week last week.

It runs pretty well, though I'm having that old problem of running into walls again.

We need to get server games going again at lunchtime here at the Lazy-I ranch.

Oh, and the Linux version does -not- require the CD to be in the CD tray for startup, but you -do- need the files to be on the hard drive.

I don't know if it's able to be networked, but I would imagine so.

All else failing that, I can bring my CD back in and install it to the W2K box, and really kick it up.

Let's get it on,
:bang:
ummmm, what's with the extra code after the emoticon bio?

Did Decent II run on IPX or IP? I seem to remember that Decent 1 ran on IPX and when we had Novell going .. it was no problem.. I may be thinking about DOOM 1 (1994-1995) Boy was the Netcave fun in those days!

It ran IPX. I just checked, and I don't have an IPX driver for Linux, so I'm screwed that way anyhow. I'll have to bring in my CD

That is, if we can still run an IPX game via the Lazy-I net.

Pigman?

Well .. we have not globally blocked IPX and I know that some folks in Bld 2 are still using Chip and Gumby Novell 4.11 servers.

If you are running Windows, you may have to add IPX since we no longer install it when we build new systems.
