GTA 5 Online SMH moment

Post by eddiecanuck » Mon Nov 08, 2021 3:44 pm

I've been playing quite a bit of GTA 5 in the last few months, enjoying story mode but starting to see an end in sight. So I've been working more in Online, mostly in solo or closed lobbies. Problem is, not much to do especially around making money.
Every once in a while though I go into a public lobby just to remind myself how much I dislike the general online community.
I logged in, got my Casino money and then decided to zoom around for a bit. It was quite an active day and I decided to follow the boom booms to see what was up. Didn't take long for someone to decide to chase me and blow me away. No surprise, kinda what I figured would happen. No harm, into Passive Mode I go.
Continue lurking around watching the action. I get out of my vehicle to walk down a street, then notice my car is moved on the map. I walk back to where I left it and it's gone. Now yes, I do have it setup so nobody can get into my car but me, which is why it was odd. Then I get a message that so and so has destroyed my personal vehicle. I walk down the block and he is still ramming into it and firing missiles even though it's been destroyed. I had my character stand there watching him as I was wondering why.
Then he chooses to try and ram into me. Still in Passive Mode, so he passes right through me. This continues for a minute or two until I'm bored and start walking away. He follows, continuing the useless act. All the while destroying other vehicles and upping his wanted level.
Then he gets clever and rams trashed cars INTO me. That does affect me. Clever indeed. So I high tail it to an alley working my way back to a close by apartment. He peruses, same antics. Eventually I go into a spot he can't get to, by then he's got SWAT and all sorts of trouble on him. They finally destroy him.
What the hell? I don't get that. I could see if he had a chance of killing me, but really there wasn't much of one. I just don't get it.
Best part is, I had insurance on the vehicle, so I knew it wouldn't cost anything to get it back. But because he destroyed it, he ended up eating the cost.

I think you just posted the best synopsis of why I don't play GTA 5 online anymore. Ugh.

As bad as it can be when other players act like they're 8 years old (and, because some people are terrible parents, they often are), it's worse when you run into a modder who's constantly blowing your car up/teleporting you about a mile straight up (and letting gravity do the work)/changing the visibility in game to 0 feet/changing the brightness in game to 0 (black screen... even headlights don't work)/opening the ground and letting you fall to nothing/making it rain Boeing 747s.

That's the only satisfaction you can get sometimes. Relish it!

Yeah, I can't even imagine playing on the PC and having to deal with modders. I probably wouldn't have gotten much past the introduction events before saying screw it.

As is, I'm just about to the point where I'm going back to story mode to finish up and then put it on the shelf. Unless you have friends to do heists and business with, it's pretty tough to make money. And I'm not playing with randoms, too much risk there. The couple of things I did with them were not the greatest encounters, not the worst, but still not great.

I like some of the more freeform things you can do in online, but I can't make enough money to get the better vehicles and such to do the couple of solo heists that are available. I did manage to get a CEO business free, the Maze Bank office was free one day so I took it. And I won the Halloween car at the Casino on a wheel spin, otherwise there are a few things I do and if I'm lucky I can make $100K in a day, but that is not much.

Again I agree, modders suck!

Check out GTAV Online RP servers. Much more fun, and there's usually something to do. The game itself doesn't add a ton, but the player interactions do.
If you're gonna be dumb you better be tough.
