Cleaning house

Since a lot of the topics under this forum have gone for over a decade with no real content added, should I migrate them over to a new section (maybe something like "Warehouse of the Old Stuffs")? Or do we just keep going as is and pretend that the last 13 years of neglect never happened?

I'm cool with both.

Of course, I'm cool with a lot of things, like chocolate chip cookies and beer (delicious) and ketchup with a grilled cheese sandwich (for dipping of course). Those are both things you eat and have nothing to do with the board (oooooh... blueberry pop-tarts and beer are good too!!), but you get the general idea... I'm ok with things.

It's your house, do whatever you want.
I agree, beer is good. I'm more of a brown sugar and cinnamon Pop-Tart person. Never tried with beer though.

I'm cool with both. An archive might be neat?

I don't know the age of the whole "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire" bit, but I first heard it in Feb or March of 1986 (I think). I was in basic training and we had just returned back to our barracks after a day of butt fuckery in the South Carolina sun.

We must have been firing our weapons that day because we were all outside cleaning them when a building 2 blocks away suddenly went up in flames (it was actually quite scary how quickly it was engulfed). We all stood there watching when one of the privates started singing "The roof. The roof. The roof is on fire. We dont need no water, let the mother fucker burn. Burn mother fucker, burn!" Then the whole platoon joined in.

The Drill Sargents thought it funny but told us to STFU anyway.

We never heard anything more about it, but then again, we didn't know anything about the world outside of our platoon. There was no radio, TV, newspapers, etc. Isolation, was part of the program.

Basic training was actually awesome. Sure, some of it sucked, but there was a clear end date and after that, I'd never see the guy who was screaming at us again. Besides... everything my mother ever told me not to do... that's probably what we were doing that day. We played with weapons, knives, and explosives while running around in the woods like a bunch if unwashed feral animals.

Good times!!

basic training was for sure a surreal experience
