After completely blowing up the board for an excruciating hour and a half (I was nearly in tears!), DamagedPeople.com is once again updated and ready for business, and for the first time in years... it's set up to accept new users if desired (that bit has been broken for years because Dreamhost made a change to email settings).
So, in the completely unlikely even that someone who isn't a bot tries to register, they will be able to (just not today).
Hurrah for both not destroying it all and allowing fresh meat!

Social media mega-sites put a real crimp on small boards like this. Why go to a dozen small boards when you can see all your friends in one convenient, add slathered location?
Of course, thus said mega-sites became toxic sludge factories where horrible people pushed angerly promoted their rhetoric of intolerance. Not that this can't happen on smaller boards, but with a smaller audience, it's easier to manage.
Also... I was really lazy.
