Reading
this article, looks like the switch to DTV may catch a lot of people off guard.
Stock the canned goods and bottled water, and hunker down folks. This could get ugly.

It probably will get ugly, but they've only been warning people for 2 years to get ready for it. I can't watch an hour of television without seeing at least one add warning you about the change and giving you websites and such to research it.
Honestly, I don't feel bad for anyone who either A) didn't see this one coming or B) was just to damn lazy to do what they needed to do before the event happened.
Last minute whiners don't get my sympathy, but do stir my wrath.
As for me... I have cable, so much like Y2K, it'll be another non-event for me.

Of course, if you don't have a cable box, it is an event for you. Comcast is switching over to digital only signals at the same time...they will be requiring you to have a cable box to continue service...if your TV is using a internal cable tuner, you'll need to get a hold of Comcast and request the cable box.

I checked that out by contacting Comcast.
I currently have digital cable and my TV's hooked up to it work, so they have digital tuner cards (they're all fairly new). However, if you need a converter box from Comcast, they are provided at no charge. All you have to do is call them and request it.
