The best I could come up with was a bug on the lens, but it seems to react too obviously to the environment.

That is just a bug on the lense for sure. Funny what will make people think that they have seen Angels or UFOs. I guess when we can't explain things our imagination starts taking over.
No way it could be an angel. Angels are orange/yellow and they don't like to sit in one place for a half hour, they are actually very active.

A little of that is okay I think. I think its hard wired into us and is part of why we are inquisitive to a certain extent. And I also think sometimes myth is better than reality. The big problem comes when people start trying to legislate off of the imagination. Daydreaming is great and good for the imagination. It isn't, however, a way to govern nor justify genocide.
Looking at it again, its so clearly a bug, though one with a bright blue belly, which is odd.
