I finally get to see my neurosurgeon today.

Hopefully he's had a chance to review my MRI and will have planned a course of action to correct whatever the hell is wrong with me. I'm also gonna ask if they can't get me on a different painkiller (as this one has the tendency to make me a little emotionally unstable).

If it comes to surgery (which it most likely will), I'm hoping that they can get to it quickly. The novelty of the whole situation is worn off and I'm ready to move on.

Wheeeee, fun!

Is this the same doctor from before? My mom flew down to see a specialist in Seattle last week, her doctor here was pissing her off. I am a firm believer in shopping around for doctors. I don't want the guy with a "C" average from Grenada U

It's the same doctor. He's one of the best in the region.

For anyone who cares, I've got a nasty case of dermatofibros (scaring of the neural sheath where the nerve projects from the spinal cord). When combined with my 3 herniated discs, it makes life kinda nasty.

Unfortunately, the treatment I need is currently in medical trials and won't be avilable until next year. I could get into the trial, but I would only have a 1 in 3 chance of getting the procedure if I did, so it's best to wait.

They will attempt something that will make things a little better, injecting cortazone directly into my spinal cord (which requires I be sedated because A) It hurts like a mother fucker and B) If I move durring the procedure, walking again will not be an option).

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Well, at least they know what it is and how to fix it. That's a positive thing.
