On a barely related note, my neighbor once had a tick on her neck. Her husband inspected the odd bump, and didn't get it. She kept it dry during showers, had her hairdresser cut around it so as not to disturb it, and otherwise coddled it. Many weeks later it fell off, probably due to surprise.
Urban Legend? No. Just my whacky neighbors.
