Visiting the dentist

Post by eddiecanuck » Thu Oct 02, 2003 12:01 pm

Well another fun visit to the dentist today. I don't think he has all the "kinks" worked out of his system yet. He's a new dentist, taking over my old dentist's practice. So I think he's still learning the ropes. Monday I had a wisdom tooth out, he told me then, that my next visit would be for the crown fitting and a wisdom tooth pull again. I get there today and a new dental assistant comes in to numb me up (no, not like that). So she puts the swab with the topical in my mouth to numb the area for the needle. She puts it in the upper left part. The fillings and wisdom tooth are on the bottom left, and the crown is top right. So before "sticking" me, I asked if she was doing the right part. She said yes, so away we go. She finishes numbing me and the other dental assistant comes in and asks how it's going. I informed her that the top left side was well on it's way. She stopped and said "what?". I let her know what happened and she says, that we are only doing the crown fitting today.
So, not only did I get numbed in the opposite side of my face, but they weren't planning on the wisdom tooth. Now the lack of tooth pulling wasn't a complete dissapointment to me, but having to go through ANOTHER needle numbing was kind of annoying. So I'm sitting here now with both sides of my face numb. This keeps up I'm going to have to look for a new dentist.

Oh, and the gold crown is going to run me about $420 out of pocket. Would have been nice to know this up front. *sigh*

I need a new dentist too. Mine is in prison for medicare and prescription drug fraud. He was a cool dentist, somehow my insurance paid for all my cosmetic work, and if you were getting a tattoo, he prescribe some percoset for you
