Guitar Question

Post by jc » Sat Apr 07, 2007 2:17 pm

I seem to recall some rather knowledgeable chaps here commenting about guitar choices a while back.

An aquaintance of mine has a Kingston Bass Guitar from the 60's and is looking to value it. He's been uncessesful in his attempts and I'm ignorant in this matter. Anything more I should know about the guitar? Any places he can go? Anyone have ideas of worth off the top of their head? Anything specific he should look for to help value it?

Thanks.

I have a guitar, but I'm about useless when it comes to that kind of info.

Rocketdork is probably your man.

I would have to see the bass to know what it's worth for sure, but I'm guessing it's not worth much.

Kingston is a Canadian company that is not very reputable.

If it seems to be made out of cheap wood and rattles a lot, it's probably a piece of junk worth no more than $200.

If it is a MTD design and has a nice solid wooden body, it could be a good one, but not great.

Best way would be to get the hardware touched up (Rocketdork would be your man there), and have someone who plays give it a try...see how much they would be willing to pay for it. They could at least tell you if it is worth anything.
