That, and they're slow as fook. Oh, and expensive.
They make you just about as cool as a Subaru Baja owner, which is, not cool at all.

Slow? 6 times faster than walking is not slow, don't forget they're not meant for long distance travel just city life...

I prefer a skateboard for small-scale city travel. Small, lightwieght, easily carry-able (especially strapped to a backpack), fun to play around with, and not a large target for theft.
WHen compared to walking, yes, they are fast, but when compared to anything with wheels, they are slow.

I saw a Segway downtown just a few days ago, with some old lady riding it. She looked like she was really enjoying herself.

That would be like the kids who cruise Divison street here. They run a wireless network and trade ROMs for their cars via IM, then race each other.
