WIDESCREEN
I just got myself a new Samsung 20" Widescreen monitor on Black Friday. I'm all plugged and played and driver installed anywayed and I'm stretched. I've tried plugging in the resolution into the Nvidia settings and I'm still stretched. Anyone crossed this bridge before and have any tips?

It turns out the problem is the card. Apparently NVIDIA's 5200 FX has a problem with widescreen rezes out of the DVI port. The analog port is fine and displays nicely at its appropriate resolution, but the DVI doesn't go above 1280x1024 or something. Which is decidedly 4:3 ratio. Since I don't have any HDCP devices installed yet, this isn't a big problem. Still, I'll have to upgrade that video card sooner or later.

I have a 20" widescreen LCD at work.
It runs native at 1680x1050 and is the sweetest thing ever! Of couse, out of the box it wouldn't do the 16:9 ratio. A quick jaunt to ATI to update the video on my laptop fixed it.
The laptop itself doesn't have DVI, but the docking cradle does, so that worked pretty well for me (and gives me the option to dual-head the box... if I can convince my new boss to buy me a second 20").
And speaking of big ass screens.... we may be buying this for the house. Totally sexy, 6000:1 contrast ratio, and 1080p.
