ZOMG HELP BUGFREEZER!

I came home and daks had a glass upside down on the kitchen counter and paper towel with a hastily scrawled message.
<- DON''T TOUCH THIS
She had trapped our new friend. Apparently it was running after one of the cats.
I edited the image to add scale. (The " got kind of melded into a ' - The spider is not 5/16' but rather 5/16")
Any input, as to its family, Mssr. Bug? Is it safe?
(I discovered Macro Mode tonight)

My other half says its an "agressive brown house spider". I don't think she has the depth of knowlege that Bugz has, but she hates spiders and says she "makes it a point to know what to step on".

Well, based on the photo, I can tell you it is not one of the "Toxic Triplets"; that is, it is not a hobo (aggressive house spider), black widow or brown recluse spider. I see these running around my house.
I can tell you that it is probably a male (based on the size of the mini-leg (pedipalp) tips), and was pry more interested in finding a girl spider vs your kitty.
I don't have a key to ID the critter otherwise. But I reckon it's safe enough, outside of the ick factor.
Macro mode R0x0rz!

Apparently carbonation passed through the nasal passages has a laugh-intensifying effect.

Hahah... That's Daks' story and she's sticking to it.
Thanks for the good words Mssr. Bugs. Daks is feeling a lot better about the whole thing.
Also: Oregon has a freaktonne of spiders.
