damaged people dot com

So I've been trying to find a luggage rack for my motorcycle that will fit. My problem is I have a custom tail light and licence plate mount. So virtually no luggage racks will work with that as most need to mount to the tail light assembly. The other ones use the sissy bar mounts which I don't have either due to they type of seat I have. I ordered a luggage rack and got it today. What I thought I was getting (and what was pictured on their site) was this:
mounts to back of seat and to the saddle bag mounts on each side.

What I got was more like this:
mounts to back of seat and the top of the luggage rack.

The vendor will refund me the price but not the shipping (bastards). I've emailed the manufacturer and asked WTF. I'm wondering if there isn't some way to make 2 lengths of chromed metal that will mount to the bottom of the luggage rack and around to the saddle bag mounts. That's how the first pic should mount and is what I need. Trying to save some money and time. Any ideas? I'm still waiting for the manufacturer to respond.

I've scoured the web trying to find basically the first picture and several places show they sell it, but since what I got wasn't that picture I'm doubting it.

Hmmmm....

well I looked at the tag on the one I have, which is slightly different than the pic I posted (that was the closest I could find), and it shows the right product number. It just doesn't match the first picture. Still waiting for the manufacturer to email me back. I'm thinking it'll be somewhere around never.

Gonna have to try the custom houses in town like we discussed at lunch. I'm just afraid they'll want too much.
