That was all over the news a while back (since it is where I live).

If you're going to hang the guy, does it matter if his head pops off when you do it? Seriously... he'll be dead either way.

Horrors! If we took off his head, it be just like what those islamic militants do to their hostages! Surely we are better than that!

Total difference.

Here, he was investigated by a publicly accountable police force who found sufficient evidence to bring him to trial. Then judged by a jury of his peers, found guilty of his crime, and sentenced. He was allowed his appeals to overturn the conviction and was treated well while being held (prison isn't happy fun time, but at least your captors don't beat your daily).

He wouldn't suffer any more if his head was yanked off of his big fat ass than he would if he hung there.

You forgot to add the clause the eliminates the necessity of most of this if you are rich and/or famous.

This fat fuck was neither.

He also wasn't quite so fat when he went to prision for shooting two bank tellers at point blank after he robbed the place.

He used the years of appeals to gain as much weight as he could so they wouldn't be able to hang him.

Yeah, the point of the humane crowd is that shedding actual blood is anaethema to our advanced society: ergo, since he was at risk of becoming mechanically separated because of his stature...no hanging.

Yeah, no one wants to see that, nor clean up after him.
