Personal responsibility... to hell with that!

Once again, the video game industry is under attack by Congress.

What congress fails to see is that the games they find most offensive are marketed to 26 year olds, have an 18+ sticker on them, and they do fall into the hands of younger players, they are usually purchased for them by their parents.

Of course, the argument that violent games create violent people is one of the many myths that our fine government is basing their decisions on.

So... perhaps a better idea would be that the parents of young children should pony up and be responsible for what they purchase for their kids. When they're buying that game, maybe they should read the damn box to see exactly what nugget of entertainment they're getting for little Johnny. Hell... maybe while they're at it, they could talk to the kids once in a while, act like a family, perhaps treat them with dignity and teach them moral values.

Well... it's an idea.

Unfortunately, we live in a time where personal responsibility isn't the norm and common sense is a myth. When we do something that's short sighted, or just plain ignorant, we sue, we fight, we blame anyone else other than ourselves.

How sad is that?
