Unsecured networks are your friend!

Post by bio » Thu Dec 15, 2005 1:22 pm

Here I sit in my son's oral surgeons office, bored beyond compare, when I thought that I might look to see if there were any unsecured wireless networks available to entertain me.

Sure enough, the Spokane Foot Clinic (located downstairs from where I am) has an 802.11b access point that isn't locked down.

Should I tell them? Perhaps show them how to lock it by MAC or enable WEP?

Um... nope, not today.

Life is good! :-)

I left my WAP wide open. Is that a bad thing?

You make it sound sooooo dirty :-)

You also live out in the middle of nowhere... you're probobly safe. Safer than my server (which I just found out has been infested from Brazil again).

The good news: it's getting seriously firewalled tonight. The bad news, anyone I host who has an online store needs to go bye-bye. I don't want to be responsible for stolen credit cards, etc.
