I just realized...

Zataran's is located in New Orleans.

Their black beans and rice, read beans and rice, and hoppin john's mix are staples in my house. Good stuff!

According to their website, the factory is in good shape, but they have no power, and their employees have been scattered to the 4 winds. They have, however, relocated to Texas for the moment and are working with the McCormic's factory to keep their products in production.

In the mean time, my advice is to go to the store and buy what you can.

It's funny that you say that because I just stocked up on Zatarain's and Tabasco.....

I loves me some red beans and rice.

They quit selling the hoppin' john's in this area. A quick view of the website shows that they still make it though... so I ordered a case ($20 for 12 boxes). It's a pretty good deal... $1.67 a box (that is, until you add in the $7.98 for UPS).

Still I can live with the $2.33 a box price. That's only about 40 cents more than I pay in the store.... and you can't find this in the stores.

Yeah, it's weird, here you can only get 3-5 different Zataran's products. If you go into a Kroger down there, they have an entire aisle just for the various Fish Fries, and other assorted stuff.

They make rootbeer extract too.

I might have to try that.

Home-made rootbeer. Rootbeer flavored everything.

Lady J came home last night with "Red Beans and Rice" in a family size. I swear she was like a little kid, all giggly about it.

Thank you Zataran's for a great night!
