What the hell do you need five blades for? Let me show you:

Any questions?

Back in January, I was out of town and realized I had forgotten my razor at home. Because everyone had been all atwitter about the new four-blade razors, I thought I'd give one a try. Damn thing clogs up on the first pass, and is all but impossible to clean effectively while shaving.

I want straight back to my Mach-3. A five blade system won't take off flesh down to the bone. The tips of your whiskers will clog it up before it even touches your skin. An hour of whittling later and you might get down to the layer of dead skin on the surface.

A classic example of more is not always better. I think 3 blades is more than enough to get a clean face. Course by noon I'm about ready for another shave, but no amount blades in a razor is gonna change that.

I am still firmly in the boat of using the traditional 1 blade bic that I started using when I first started to shave.

I've tried electric, 2 blade, 3 blade...none really work any better than the 1 blade razor I use now...but then I shave when I have to, not every day...I'm a scruffy bastard most of the time.

I'm with RD on that one. I rarely ever shave more than once every three or more days. Makes my skin dry out.

Damn, I wish I could go that long. I HATE shaving and if I go more than a day my face breaks out. But as with you guys shaving dries my face out so either way I'm screwed.
Oh well, guess there are worse things. That's why I go with the goatee from time to time though. Cuts down on things. May have to start it up again this winter :)

let me clarify, I should shave every day...I don't. The only time I shave is when it gets to that point where it itches a lot.

I don't have a good beard, its ugly and patchy, but I just don't care.

Try switching to a Bic Eddie, I used to break out when I didn't shave, I switched to a bic, problem went away...now I don't have to shave as often.

I have the opposite issue. Single bladed razors eat my skin big time... expecially my neck. The mach 3 was the only blade I used that didn't make my neck look like a diseased whore.

It was also the best possible thing on my head, when I shaved it. No nicks, no cuts, just pastey and white... with dark stubble by noon. I looked like a dumbass, but at least it wasn't all hacked up.

I shaved my legs with a single blade. They don't work very well. And hurt if you make just a little slip.
