Extreme Religion

Ok...not to turn this into a religious argument or anything, just wanted to discuss it. I was a member of a forum and a lot of the people there are a certain religion. A couple days ago I tried to get on and I couldn't. So I tried getting ahold of the Admin. Well I finally got a hold of him and talked to him. He said that he had to kick all of the people who weren't of his religion because it is considered bad association. I personally think that gets a little extreme. I mean in religion aren't you suppose to be accepting and not so judgemental? Just because I don't follow that particular religion I am bad association...to me that sounds a little prejudice. They assume I am bad because I don't believe what they want everybody to believe. I bet you can guess the religion.

What, Islam? Mormonism?
...Probably not.
All religions are not the same.
Well, I still hang out with y'all, even though pretty much everyone else here doesn't believe as I do (and surprisingly I've not been voted off the island yet!).
I can explain (if not necessarily justify) that point of view.
However, given our previous issues at the BRHF with religious/political stuffs, I can go into it only if the rest will let me go there just to understand the POV. Otherwise, we can talk about it over Private Message if you want.

That's one of the problems the world had always had with religions. They are created / interpreted by humans, usually as a way to control other humans. Tone's religion is the best one i heard of yet, nd as far as i know he hasnt started a war or put down any other religions cause he didnt understand them.

you know narrow minds come in all flavors...
I generally find that people who are NOT religious tend to be more accepting of other peoples thoughts and beliefs...
Of course generalizations are just that...they don't fit all the cases.
You are pby better off being excluded from them...that brand of "crazy" doesn't need to be propagated.
Believe what you want, accept that others have the same right. It makes things easy.
This pby isn't appropriate to post, but I see the bumper stickers on cars all the time that say "No God, No Peace, Know God, Know Peace". It strikes me as ironic. In reality there have been so many wars fought for religious reasons that the saying (IMHO) should be "No God, Know Peace, Know God, No Peace"...I know the sticker refers to inner peace, not world peace (whirled peas?)
It strikes me that if there wasn't a God...and no religion as a result, about half the wars throughout history wouldn't have been fought. Although, my believe that humanity is basically bad will lead me to the conclusion that the people would have just found another reason to fight.
Just my liberal pacifist opinion...not trying to start a fight...

The religion is Jehovah Witness. I am not a very religious person myself. I can honestly say that. But I still except other people. I was just a little upset at the decision. I have known the person since kindergarden. But somebody on there told the people called the elders, and he could be disfellowshiped. His best friend is a non-witness, so what will happen to him? I just feel that people take things to seriously and things get out of hand where they would be just fine.

Well... that pretty much explains it all.
Why someone would follow a religion that is defeatist by nature (you'll never be good enough to go to heaven... it only accepts a limited number of souls) is beyond me.

I really don't get that. They believe that only 100,000 souls get to go to heaven. I was going to meeting with my Jehovah Witness friends...and I just didn't believe what they were putting out there...and that is probably because I was raised on a different religion.

every month? or year?
what makes only 100,000 go to heaven? pain and suffering?? helping others?
cant i just stop at home "do-the-right thing" and be done with all this religion. so many and i can find fault in all of them. most "commandments" sould like some guy having a bad day rather than something that will enrich my life.

No only 100,000 souls in the history of mankind. They are called the chosen.

I thought it was 144,000 - a corruption of Revelation 7:4-8. The Christian church regards their doctrines as false.

With only 144,000 going to heaven... in the whole of human existance, it's a pretty good bet that there were at least that number of people who lead better lives than you have.
You're still not going to heaven.

But the church will still gladly accept your money, since we can't be sure quite who is on the list....
