Sunny Beach!

Post by bio » Tue Jul 26, 2005 3:11 pm

One of my users got his website defaced yesterday.

He was running an older version of wordpress and they only got his index.php file, but this scares the bejesus outa me.

So... if you're running wordpress... download the latest build and update your shit please (don't make me do it for you!).

Unless, of course, you're moxie... then I'll help ya :-)

Heh... it comes with a "readme.html" file :-)

backup your wp-config.php, any custom files you might have, and wp-content/templates/the_one_you_use/ folder, then wack all the wp files and folders (you can usually keep the /wp-content folder so you don't lose your theme)

Upload the new ones, restore your wp-config.php and other custom files, then run mydomain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Zing... all done.

Translation: I know you don't know diddly about any of this and would likely just pester me with questions were you to try it yourself anyway.

I think painted's installed version is ok (but I'll verify).

Moxie's is older... and heavily customized. I'm probobly going to have to recreate the theme from scratch. So... this is a good time for a revamp!

Mox... if you have any ideas on what you'd like, let me know. Otherwise... I'll just go nuts with it and you can tell me what to fix later :-)

Oh... and I have to do JC's too (and his forum while I'm at it). His theme is very easy though.
