Mrs. Bio's birthday is on wednesday. Yesterday, we got her this little jem:


2005 Jeep Liberty Limited

It has leather heated seats, 6 disk in dash CD player, Infinity sound system, powered sunroof, heated side mirrors (no more scraping in the winter), dual power front seats, chrome wheels, yadda, yadda, yadda.

They had some nice discounts... $2000 cash allowance just for coming in, $2484 off the sticker (the "employee discount" special they're running), and $500 off because I was in the Army when I was younger. It was $29,175.... so we got it at $24,191.

Mrs. Bio is a very happy camper today

Durango gone ?

Yeah... no Durango for us.

We did, however, purchase the extended warranty on the rig. Bumper to bumper coverage for 7 years or 70,000 miles (112,654 km). Cars are about the only thing I'll buy an extended warranty on. I was glad the Durango had it when the transmission died just outside of the manufacturers warranty (that alone more than paid for it!).

Dude, I don't mean to sound flattering, but I think you just blew my mind.

I think the brits tax scale is different than ours...what are your guys' highest percentage taken out (=tax bracket)?

Also, I am sure that Bio & Co. will be paying finance charges and interest on the loan they pry had to take out to buy said vehicle.

Trust me... I pay plenty in taxes. The government keeps about 30% of my income. I also have to pay for my health insurance (there is no government insurance... unless you're so poor you can't afford it).

It's the beauty of going to college and landing a good job with decent pay. The fact that my wife did the same and makes more than I do doesn't hurt one bit either.

And yes.... we will pay a fortune in interest on it by the time it's paid off (though we did get a decent rate of 6.29% on a 72 month load).

I do, however, have to take it in for some work tomorrow. The damn cruise control doesn't appear to work. I have an appointment to take it in at lunch and they'll give me a loaner for the day.

My brother's friend just got his truck back from the shop with a new engine and everything...and they wrecked yesterday and messed up the stearing pins or something, so he can't turn his wheels. So he is getting a new truck and putting the old engine in it. He was going 45MPH down our street and wrecked with my brother in the car. The ladies car they crashed into was totalled. But he has wrecked so many times that they suspended his license for 6 months to 1 year. I am glad I am smarter than my parents other offspring. Heheh.

Good thing for you guys (assuming the wage structure is similar to ours) that the pound smacks the dollar...or wait, you are using euros now...and according to this site, the euro also smacks the dollar now.

Gas (or petrol) is $2.44 a gallon at this moment (or about 66 cents per liter).

While it doesn't get the best milage on earth, it does pretty well for a 3.7L V-6.

Baldy pointed out that my car with it's dinky little 2.0L engine is concidered big in Europe.

Don't know how I will afford gas next year. My average paycheck is $150 and I pay $50 for insurance...or more. For my car...and gas. They gave my hours away at work, to the new girl. Not to happy.
