P2P Lawsuits

So I've been thinking about the P2P ruling. Seems like a rather shortsighted ruling on the part of the Supreme Court. I know file sharing is wrong, but nonetheless, it seems like the Court was overriding logic to get to its justification.

As its been pointed out at about a hundred other places, this ruling contradicts basic principles that facilitate free enterprise and tech development. More, it doesn't even seem likely to curb the traffic. So what they have done here, essentially, is given the MPAA and RIAA a blank check to sue software manufacturers when they can't effectively challenge the user. You think this businesses are going to use this power judiciously?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though this was merely meant to empower corporations, irregardless to sound legal reasoning.
